Another Maybach Shock

After the shock of Jay Z and Kayne West’s video clip of cutting Maybach into pieces, I found something more interesting! Maybach Music Group, you didn’t read wrong or I didn’t type wrong. There is a record label founded by the most stylish person at the Range Rover Evoque event with his sleepers, Rick Ross. Maybach Music Group seems to be inspired by the Maybach car, how I know? Just watch their video clip and you can understand it very clearly!

There is one thing, which I cannot understand for very long time! Why the rappers are obsessed with Maybach, not with Bentley or Rolls Royce. They use these brands on their video clips too but they have a high level of predisposition to Maybach. And the underlying reason is, they love Mercedes! What does this mean? They love Mercedes, Mercedes makes Maybach and they love Maybach. Very simple explanation for a complicated emotional bond.

I am very happy for one thing, Wilhelm Maybach never seen all these things! Who is Wilhem Maybach? Founder of Maybach brand, and he played key role during the first years of Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. Herr Maybach is a very respectful engineer and he had important role during the development of modern four-stroke engine.

We lost a Maybach on a Video Clip (Jay-Z and Kayne West)

Maybach has never been a dream car for me. Despite its state of art, technology and perfection in in every detail could not hinder the S-Class bits from my mind. In terms of sales figure, Maybach was a disaster for Mercedes, if Hollywood directors read the Maybach’s story they may make a movie based on a real story. Despite receiving low demand and overtaken by Rolls Royce, Maybach is a great car. You can see the perfect German engineering in every single detail, and it can be considered as the capabilities of Mercedes’s engineers. However, these facts don’t help to increase sales. They only help us to develop an emotional bond with the car.

Unfortunately, not everyone feel the same like me! Last week, American Rappers Jay-Z and Kayne West released a new video clip called Otis. In terms of music, they great talents! However I first read the title of the video clip, I didn’t dare to watch it. Usually this type of video clips; there are many girls, lots of money, champagnes, luxury cars, luxury house and etc (Reference, 1st video). Nothing really different or original. I think they thought the same and decided to boost the creativity with this video by destroying a Maybach.

Yes, dear Jay-Z and Kayne West destroyed a Maybach on their latest video clip. I wish they destroyed the car and finished the video, but they didn’t do this! Instead, they made it worse. Extremely worst, honestly they made the worst and the most expensive car on planet. They pushed their creativity into boundaries and decided to replace the front engine bonnet with the rear boot, cut the doors, cut the roof also, probably removed the catalytic converter to boost flames from exhaust, and covered fenders with shiny metals. They didn’t finish here, lastly they placed something on the boot which completed the scenery. These unidentified things remind me the Enterprise from Star Trek.

Overall, I gave ZERO to Star Trek inspired cabrio Maybach. Creativity, ZERO! Originality, ZERO! Aesthetic, ZERO! Jay-Z and Kayne West are great artist but they should focus on music not on car design :( After this video clip, I started to love Maybach more.

In the end, we realised you have lots of money! Jay-Z and Kayne West promoted their video really well on social media, well done ;)

Maybach Facts

I found some interesting facts about the Maybach. If you don’t know Maybach, I would like to provide a brief information. Maybach is the main competitor of Rolls Royce and it is under the Daimler brand. For some people, it is a luxury Mercedes!

The interesting facts about the Maybach; it is the longest production car with 6,166mm long and the heaviest production car by 2,855 kg. This interesting and probably useless information will not change your life or improve your automotive knowledge that much. But when you combine these interesting information with something unexpected, your brain may store Maybach in a better place.

Unfortunately, Maybach is one of the slowest selling production vehicle. Despite all efforts, the sales of Maybach never came close to its main rival Rolls Royce. And currently, the production might be finished! Honestly, I really like this car. I had chance to experience the state-of-art features of the Maybach and I was really impressed.

However, there is one single problem with Maybach. It is too much conservative and too much Mercedes to compete with Rolls Royce.

Smart Fascinated by Maybach

You might have heard that Maybach brand will not be produced in future but Mercedes will offer Maybach brand as an optional upgrade on their vehicle range, which is planned to be similar to AMG. You will buy an S Class and you will have the AMG or Maybach options. Maybach option will boost the luxury and probably offer additional customisation. As I mentioned in my previous posts, it sounds a really good business model and many customer would be happy to have Maybach luxury without paying Maybach price!

On the other hand, there is one more option available for Mercedes. That is the Smart Maybach. Now, Aston Martin has Cygnet, Rolls Royce has Mini by Goodwood and Mercedes left alone. Actually, Mercedes loves to introduce competitor vehicles at any condition. After this small luxury revolution, I want to see a Maybach based Smart car. It would be a great alternative on market and can increase the sales of the Smart. Many people would buy it because it has a Maybach logo and über luxury. If anyone in Mercedes HQ at Stuttgart is reading this, please consider Smart Maybach vehicle! And can be named as Smart Fascinated by Maybach.

This new market is going to make lots of money is next decade. Small and luxury! Many people want to experience, even when they drive a small car.

Maybach Exelero

A one-off custom-built Maybach was unveiled in May 2005 at the Tempodrom in Berlin. Commissioned by tyre company Fulda, the Exelero is a chopped-down two-seater coupe, though it's more than just a show car - in tests at the Nardo high-speed oval, the prototype reached a speed of 218.38mph, despite weighing over 2.66 tonnes. It is capable of acceleration from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds.

The car's design was the result of a competition amongst students at the Pforzheim Polytechnic Department of Transport Design, which has worked on show vehicles for Fulda in the past. The design of 24-year-old Fredrik Burchhardt was chosen, and his work was co-ordinated with that of the Maybach design centre in Sindelfingen. The project, based on the Maybach 57 limousine, required a certain amount of re-engineering; the A-pillar and doors had to be shifted rearwards, and the steering column, pedals and gearshift all re-located. The standard 550bhp V12 engine was bored out to 5.9 litres, and tuned for 700bhp and over 738lb ft of torque. With final dimensions of 5890mm long, 2140mm wide and just 1390mm high, the car was kitted out with a full-spec interior, including leather, neoprene, aluminium and carbonfibre finishes.

Maybach says the car, built by Stola in Turin, is "a one-off vehicle created to showcase the new ultra-high performance Exelero tyre range from leading tyre manufacturer Fulda"; it's not the first time the two companies have teamed up, as back in 1938 Fulda demonstrated its tyres on a Maybach SW 38 limousine. There are, however, "no plans to produce the model in series", though it has been certified for on-road use.

The shoulderline is painted right through to the background of the headlamp assemblies in Rocky Mountains light brown, which forms a stylish and scintillating contrast to the Taiga black finish used for the rest of the vehicle body. Dark red tail light units and a fine vertical partition in the tailpipe add striking visual touches at the rear. The Maybach Zeppelin's newly designed 20-inch wheels in a Chrome Shadow finish complete the picture. These were first painted with a black undercoat, before having a silver topcoat applied using an elaborate painting process that causes the tone to gradually increase in darkness from the outside in.
The streamlined exterior mirrors, which produce even less wind noise, are new to Maybach. They have a more angular design and are separated from the door frame by a slender arm, giving them a more expressive look. They also feature an enlarged mirror surface together with integral indicators in the shape of a horizontal "V" for even greater perceptual safety.

The curving "ZEPPELIN" lettering that appears below the distinctive double "M" emblem on the radiator grille and on the boot lid instantly gives away the elite status of the new Maybach Zeppelin.

The new Maybach Zeppelin is a car for connoisseurs, as is immediately apparent from its interior. Here, the luxurious leather appointments in California beige leather form a delightful contrast with the exclusive leather in deep Stromboli black that gives added impact to the shoulderline on the inside too. At the same time, the lustrous deep black tone of the leather harmonises beautifully with the exquisite piano lacquer finish of the trim elements. The precisely crafted contrasting topstitching in the dashboard and on the doors reinforces the Maybach Zeppelin's sense of dynamism. The unusual diamond quilting pattern on the seat cushions and backrests together with the black piping gives the opulently styled seats a character all of their own. The occupants' feet rest on genuine lambskin carpeting.

The limited-edition special models bear a number of discreet identifying markings in the interior too. The centre console in the front, the partition screen that is available as an option for the Maybach Zeppelin 62, plus the silver champagne flutes included as standard are all marked with the lettering "MAYBACH ZEPPELIN", while the door sill panels as well as the key ring are engraved with the word "ZEPPELIN".

World first - a system for a fine interior fragrance
Customers are also able to opt for an especially refined equipment detail that is exclusive to the Maybach Zeppelin - an imaginatively designed, extremely high-quality perfume atomiser, the only one of its kind in the world. The system's core component is an internally illuminated Plexiglass sphere on the rear centre console, into which Maybach Zeppelin owners can insert a vial of their preferred fragrance. A regulator pump then directs a gentle flow of air into the Plexiglass sphere, fanning the vial's perfume molecules into the vehicle interior.
 

The ingenious control understands the human sense of smell
The perfume atomiser can be activated either from the driver's seat or by means of a button in the rear centre console, with an additional thumbwheel in the rear for sensitive aroma control. The chosen fragrance gently wafts into the passenger compartment within ten to twelve seconds. On models with a partition screen, only the passengers in the rear are able to activate the atomiser.

The aroma experts took the human sense of smell into consideration when designing the control mechanism. As the nose adjusts to smells in such a way that it no longer perceives them after a short while, the perfume atomiser switches off after about ten minutes. Once the system has switched off, the fragrance - which does not seep into the interior's materials or the occupants' clothes - quickly evaporates. Reactivating the atomiser later allows the experience to be enjoyed all over again.

The system comes supplied with two select fragrances, which have been exclusively developed for the Maybach by a renowned perfumer from global specialist Givaudan: one light and refreshing, the other slightly heavier and woodier.
Maybach Zeppelin owners can also use other fragrances, or even have one specially developed and enjoy the luxury of immersing themselves in their very own, personally designed aroma. The fragrance holders are easily interchangeable. The specification includes a total of three valuable vials, which are hand-blown by a well-known glass artist.

The Maybach 57 Zeppelin costs �406,000, the Maybach 62 Zeppelin has a price tag of �473,200 (German list price, excl. VAT). The perfume atomiser that is exclusive to the Zeppelin can be ordered for an extra �3950 (German list price, excl. VAT).
The new Maybach Zeppelin went on sale on 3 March 2009, with the first models expected to be delivered to customers in September 2009.

BRAKES AND HANDLING SYSTEMS
Instead of the traditional mechanical / hydraulic brake system, the Maybach is equipped with an electrohydraulic system known as Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC™). This system has two central control units – a design feature which has significant advantages with regard to the division of the brake circuits. The key benefit of this system is that it is able to modulate the brake pressure required for each individual wheel with greater precision and deliver it more quickly. This means that this advanced brake system can respond more appropriately to the driving situation to provide the optimum braking effect. Sensotronic Brake Control also enhances the operation of important safety-related dynamic handling systems such as the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) and ABS/BAS, which for instance sense the onset of skidding and automatically intervene to stabilize the vehicle. And SBC™ also helps to make braking smoother.

CHASSIS – AIRMATIC DUAL CONTROL
The Maybach is equipped with the latest chassis technology which includes independent double wishbone front suspension and independent multilink rear suspension, as well as AIRMATIC Dual Control air suspension. AIRMATIC DC features air springs complemented by an additional spring-rate adjustment system and also includes adaptive damping with integrated level control. INTELLIGENT BI-XENON HEADLAMPS
Bi-xenon is an innovative headlamp technology in which both the low and main beam are produced by powerful xenon gas discharge lamps. The additionally integrated active light function can enhance the illumination of curves in the road by up to 90 percent, since the bi-xenon modules swivel as a function of the car’s steering angle, speed and rate of turn. At the same time, the dynamic headlamp range adjustment changes the angle of the headlamp beams to compensate any pitching movements. When the car turns a corner at speeds up to 19 mph the cornering light function of the headlamp unit on the inner side is automatically switched on.

MODULAR ROOF SYSTEM
The Maybach is available with an electric tilting/sliding sunroof made from 0.25 inch laminated glass and installed over the front cabin of the Maybach 57 or the rear cabin of the Maybach 62. Both models can also be specified without this feature.

PARKTRONIC
PARKTRONIC system uses ultrasonic waves to help detect nearby obstacles at parking speeds, alerting the driver to their proximity and direction via illuminated and audible indicators on both the dash and rear cabin ceiling.

PASSIVE SAFETY
The Maybach also has a two-stage, situation-dependent triggering system for the driver and front passenger airbags. All four seats are equipped with three-point seat belts enhanced by high-performance tensioning retractors, beltforce limiters and comfort-fit mechanisms. The upper belt sash guide is built into the seatback. Side air bags in the seatbacks, plus separate curtain airbags for all seats give the occupants added protection.

KEYLESS-GO
The Maybach can also be unlocked by touching the door handle when you carry the electronic key with you. There’s no need to insert a key to start the engine – just push the button on the gearshift lever and the Type 12 powerplant comes to life.

AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL
Every Maybach has two climate control systems: one for the front compartment and one for the rear. Each can be programmed and operated independently. The high-performance climate control system not only delivers the ideal temperature very efficiently but also responds extremely quickly when the settings are changed. The four-zone system allows different temperature, blower speed and air distribution settings to be programmed for each occupant. A specially designed ventilation system around the side windows provides added comfort when outside temperatures are particularly high or low. A solar sensor automatically makes the necessary temperature adjustments. The system is, of course, equipped with a dust filter and an activated charcoal filter with smog sensor and automatic recirculation control.

RIDE COMFORT
Both the front and rear seats in the Maybach are master pieces of comfort technology. All the seats are heated. The shoulder belts automatically adjust to the height of the driver or passenger, which helps to enhance their protective capability. The seats are upholstered in Grand Nappa leather and feature multicontour seatbacks with dynamic lumbar supports. All the seats are electrically adjustable for fore / aft, height, seatback and cushion angle, cushion length and head restraint height. To protect from the sun and guard from the gazes of strangers, the Maybach features rear high-grade fabric window curtains that can be operated from all four seats(electrically-operated curtains for the rear side windows are optional).

MULTIMEDIA
Maybach occupants enjoy the convenience of audio, video, phone and navigation systems as standard equipment. Installed in the front center console, the COMAND unit manages the functions of the radio, DVD, and front telephone, as well as the navigation system and other services. Rear passengers can control specific audio and video systems using a remote control. The driver can also control the communication systems by voice, keeping both hands on the steering wheel for safety. A state-of-the-art, fiberoptic network is the backbone of all multimedia components and offers precise, high-speed communication among these components. A lifetime subcription to SIRIUS® Satellite Radio is included with every Maybach. The rear cabin audiovisual system with DVD player, single-feed 6-disc CD changer, auxiliary inputs, remote control and dual 9.5" video monitors (one on rear face of each front seat) offers the potential for hours of uninterrupted in-vehicle entertainment.

BOSE® EVERYWHERE DOLBY SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM
Twenty-one speakers and a maximum output of 600 watts help create a unique surround-sound experience inside the Maybach. The DRO (dynamic range optimization) system uses a microphone inside the car to sense variations in the ambient sound level and corrects the audio output automatically. Set of two digital surround-sound headphones for rear passengers are stored in rear door compartments.

DISTRONIC
In the Maybach an electronic system helps you maintain the desired distance to the vehicle in front. DISTRONIC shows the driver just what that distance is on the display. If the gap narrows, the car is automatically braked; if the gap widens, the car accelerates up to the set speed. If harder braking is needed, a visual and acoustic warning prompts the driver to take action accordingly.

REAR REFRIGERATOR
Installed in the rear center console and equipped with its own compressor, the thermostatically controlled refrigerator - a no-cost option, allows passengers to enjoy chilled drinks or food.

CHAMPAGNE FLUTES

INTEGRATED REAR BLUETOOTH SYSTEM
Fully integrated into the COMAND system of the vehicle, the rear Bluetooth system incorporates your mobile telephone seamlessly. Form and function unite in the placement and design of the self-contained Bluetooth display (in place of rear armrest ashtray). The interface controller allows SMS text message display, pairing memory for up to 10 devices (only one phone can be connected at a given time), and audio facilitation using microphone array and stereo loudspeakers.

BATTERY TRICKLE CHARGER
Perhaps the Maybach is not your primary vehicle. Each vehicle is equipped with a standard Battery Trickle Charger designed to keep the battery in top condition. Simply plug the device into a household outlet on one side, and the vehicle 12V power recepticle on the other side to maintain the correct vehicle battery charge at all times.

PNEUMATIC DOOR CLOSING ASSIST
The ultimate in luxury means physical exertion is not necessary. All four doors of each Maybach do the heavy lifting for you. Simply pull the door partially closed and the latching occurs automatically. Further, each door is equipped with infinite hydraulic door stays, meaning the door will never swing back upon you. Each door is able to be secured in any open position beyond 15°. Fully electronic rear door closers are optional.

TRUNK-MOUNTED UMBRELLA
One trunk-mounted, handcrafted Dunhill Collection rain umbrella is included as standard equipment in each Maybach. Equipped with an extension, this umbrella may also be used as a sun shade.

A one-off custom-built Maybach was unveiled in May 2005 at the Tempodrom in Berlin. Commissioned by tyre company Fulda, the Exelero is a chopped-down two-seater coupe, though it's more than just a show car - in tests at the Nardo high-speed oval, the prototype reached a speed of 218.38mph, despite weighing over 2.66 tonnes. It is capable of acceleration from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds.

The car's design was the result of a competition amongst students at the Pforzheim Polytechnic Department of Transport Design, which has worked on show vehicles for Fulda in the past. The design of 24-year-old Fredrik Burchhardt was chosen, and his work was co-ordinated with that of the Maybach design centre in Sindelfingen. The project, based on the Maybach 57 limousine, required a certain amount of re-engineering; the A-pillar and doors had to be shifted rearwards, and the steering column, pedals and gearshift all re-located. The standard 550bhp V12 engine was bored out to 5.9 litres, and tuned for 700bhp and over 738lb ft of torque. With final dimensions of 5890mm long, 2140mm wide and just 1390mm high, the car was kitted out with a full-spec interior, including leather, neoprene, aluminium and carbonfibre finishes.

Maybach says the car, built by Stola in Turin, is "a one-off vehicle created to showcase the new ultra-high performance Exelero tyre range from leading tyre manufacturer Fulda"; it's not the first time the two companies have teamed up, as back in 1938 Fulda demonstrated its tyres on a Maybach SW 38 limousine. There are, however, "no plans to produce the model in series", though it has been certified for on-road use.

Audi is pulling out its biggest gun yet for the Beijing Motor Show, and while the big news for the A8 L might be the 6.3-liter W12 and the sedan's longer wheelbase, it's the rear seat accommodations that have us frothing at the mouth.

Seriously, just look at it.

With an overall length of nearly 17 and a half feet, the A8 L is almost a half-foot longer than its standard sibling, with a wheelbase of 10.24 feet. Those extra inches are put to good effect, with an interior that's enough to make a Maybach look downright spartan.




Open the lengthened rear doors and occupants are greeted by acres of leather, a full-length center console and two power-adjustable, heated and ventilated seats that not only move fore and aft, but include adjustments for cushion depth, lumbar support and seat back angle. Ten remote-controlled air-bladders massage your cares away, and if the front passenger seat – with its power-adjustable folding ottoman – cramps your style, you can move it forward with the flick of a switch.

The standard four-zone automatic climate control is manipulated by no less than 25 adjustable motors, and the massive center tunnel contains everything from a folding table to a refrigerator. It's all first-class, from the ambient lighting to the Valonea leather, and when the time comes to put the laptop away, crank up the 1,400-watt, 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System and enjoy a movie on one of the two 10.2-inch LCD displays.

If you're ready to give your chauffeur a rest, take solace in the fact that the W12 puts out 500 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque through Audi's new eight-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. The result is a remarkably quick 4.9-second run to 60 and a electrically-limited top speed of 155 mph.

The W12 will be the standard engine at launch, with a few diesel and petrol-powered engines available further down the line. We'd expect pricing for the A8 L to be revealed shortly after its official debut later this month.
